February 5, 2007 Dear Craig and Mindy, Today we went with our daughter Camilla for her interview at Little Tor Elementary school, where she will be starting Kindergarten in September. Camilla was terrific during the interview and the principal and the other staff members we met were impressed with her and how much she knows. We wanted to tell you this because we strongly feel Palisades Schoolhouse has played a major role in Camilla's development. We have seen her flourish into a little girl each step of the way, from Toddler to Pre-school and now in Pre-K, where she has learned so much under Janet's guidance. We can see she is filled with wonderful knowledge and curiosity. Largely because of the rich, caring and mentally stimulating environment you and your staff provide, we are confident that Camilla has a solid and balanced foundation as she prepares for the rest of her education. Thank you so very much for everything you've done and continue to do. Sincerely, Alfredo & Lisa Santana TOP
February 13th, 2007 To: The Staff at The Palisades Schoolhouse Mindy, Craig and Marian assured me that both my daughter and son would not only be safe, but would be joining a family that works diligently to cultivate fundamental strengths and encourage indepedent thinking. I have to start by saying thank you. Thank you to the staff and teachers, and extended family that help make up The Palisades Schoolhouse. Both my children began their introduction to formalized education at Palisades. Both of them, bright children and eager to learn, faced different developmental hurdles. My eldest is a healthy, well adjusted Kindergartener at Upper Nyack Elementary School. She is currently reading proficiently and takes pride in her ability to problem solve. She also enjoys the opportunity to speak and perform in front of her classmates. I attribute much of her success to The Palisades Schoolhouse. During my daughters stay, I was constantly made aware of her progress. If not Mindy or Craig. the instructors alerted me of her strengths and gave helpful tips on how to assist her in other areas. My eldest had a special attachment to each one of her teachers throughout her Palisades stay. My daughter excelled through music and Palisades encouraged her to express herself and used music as a tool to introduce culture, history, and basic fundamentals. Art projects were used to introduce science, math and geography and basic play time allowed the children to share, resolve conflict and learn to be aware of each others space. My daughter found it hard to leave Palisades Schoolhouse and my husband and I missed the security and comfort of a place developed for little minds. Because she was so well prepared at Palisades, it allowed her time to intergrate into a new elementry school environment. Today I have a three year old who is also attending Palisades. Unlike his sister, he did not cry for the first year of his stay and chose not to eat the healthy food prepared by the Palisades staff. He has found strength in exploring his environment through work on the computer. He enjoys circle time, puzzle time and show and tell. Midy and I continue to introduce healthy snacks into his diet. Unlike his siter, my son needed speech, special education and occupational therapy. Mindy was the first to make my husband and I aware of his needs and proceeded to guide us in the direction to get the proper assistance. My sons' therapist were some of the best and all had extremely encouraging remarks regarding Palisades Schoolhouse. It's a good place to introduce children to the world. The staff is caring, gentle, firm and efficient in giving children the tools they need to grow. Children have the rest of their lives to be in school, but gaining confidence to compete in school doesn't happen when they begin elementary school, it starts at The Palisades. To the wonderful Palisades Schoolhouse staff, Both of our daughters attended Palisades Schoolhouse and we all had great experiences there. The staff were caring and professional, the activities engaging and inspiring and the environment safe and inviting. The atmosphere was warm, friendly and cozy. And both of our kids left Palisades being extremely prepared for Kindergarten. Thanks Craig and Mindy and all the staff!
Sincerely, Jeffrey Friedberg (A.K.A. The Bossy Frog) TOP
Our two daughters had a wonderful experience at the Palisades Schoolhouse. Not only did they thoroughly enjoy it, but there is no question that the education provided to them helped prepare them very well for kindergarten. (Now, they are both reading well above their first and third grade levels.) Most of all, our kids loved their teachers and the whole Palisades environment, which is very nuturing and loving. I would recommend Palisades to anyone. Thom Kleiner (Orangetown Supervisor) Sparkill
